A compact succulent with thick, rounded leaves that slowly grows into a miniature tree. Long-lived, easy to keep and a popular gift plant.

What you receive

A rooted potted plant roughly 15–30 cm tall. Photos show mature specimens; you receive a young nursery plant that thickens into tree form over years.

Suitability for the Faisalabad region

Suits the Faisalabad region in a bright window or on a veranda with gentle morning sun; shield it from the fierce June afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves. Its low water needs fit the dry climate well. In the monsoon, keep pots out of standing rain, and in winter keep it fairly dry.

Care

Water only when the soil has dried out completely — with succulents, too much water kills far more plants than too little. Use a gritty, fast-draining mix and a pot with a drainage hole. Feeding is minimal: a weak balanced feed once or twice in the growing season. Prune lightly to shape; stem and leaf cuttings root easily. Note this is true jade (Crassula ovata), distinct from the similar-looking elephant bush.
